The best way to learn how to write a narrative essay is to see an example. I’m going to pretend that I’m the character Rudy (from the 1993 film Rudy), and I’m going to write a narrative essay about something that happened in my (Rudy’s) life.

This is when God became so important in my life because I knew it was a miracle we were alright and I felt I was given a second chance. After this happened, I stopped doing the things I use to do and try to live a better life. I don’t drink and drive anymore and I sure don’t get in a car with someone under the influence. I go to church as much as I can. I try to help people less fortunate than me, for instance I donate money on a monthly basis to help a kid in Africa. I try and will continue to try to make a difference. I do believe in living for the moment and having as much fun as you can because we are here for a short amount of time. Regardless of whether you believe in God or not, I think you should ask yourself how you live your life. Is it worth it, because when the time comes, do you want to look back on your life and see that you were a caring person that helped people or you were greedy and just lived for yourself. This I believe.

"My parents first read 'Love You Forever' to me when I was 3 or 4 years old, and I've probably reread it a thousand times since. The sentimental children's book taught me a few important lessons about life and death, the unbreakable bond shared between a parent and their child, and, perhaps most important, a lesson about the existence of unconditional love ... all of which changed my life in important ways. My younger self found much comfort in knowing that the love my parents had for me as a child, and I for them, was not something anyone could ever outgrow."

"To say this book made an impact on my life is an understatement — it helped shape it. It opened my understanding of just how incredible and beautiful our organized chaos of an existence is and what there is to discover in our lifetime. It also really hit home just how small and insignificant we are individually in the universe and we should always live and learn as much as possible every day until it's all over."

Tessa Young, an up-and-coming landscape architect who specializes in the design and creation of labyrinths, has immersed herself in the mythological, spiritual, and healing aspects of the elaborate structures. She also is searching for God and hoping to make sense of the nightmares that have plagued her since childhood. When Smith Chandler, an estranged colleague–with whom she’d half fallen in love a dozen times before catching herself every time–calls to propose a project he claims is the opportunity of a lifetime, she reluctantly agrees to check it out.
Smith is reconstructing a pre-Revolutionary War abbey for wealthy clients. Among its remarkable features is an overgrown labyrinth. Unable to resist, Tessa accepts his offer to work with him.
Soon she is immersed in the project of a lifetime. But one evening, after weeks of work in the labyrinth, Tessa and Smith are attacked. While protecting Tessa, Smith is stabbed, and the nightmare begins…again.

Amazon synopsis: "To make the journey into the Now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. From the very first page of Eckhart Tolle's extraordinary book, we move rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where we breathe a lighter air. We become connected to the indestructible essence of our Being, 'The eternal, ever present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.' Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle uses simple language and an easy question and answer format to guide us.

"A word of mouth phenomenon since its first publication, 'The Power of Now' is one of those rare books with the power to create an experience in readers, one that can radically change their lives for the better."

History, I recognized, is never objective. The journeysI have taken have been colored by my prior experiences and by whatmy feelings were in those moments. Everyone holds a piece of thetruth. Maybe facts don’t matter. Perhaps my experience is my truthand the more truths I hear from everyone else, the closer I willget to harmonization. Maybe there is no harmony, and I must go throughlife challenging and being challenged, perhaps finding perspectivesfrom which I can extract—but never call—truth. I must simply findways to understand others, to seek in them what is common to usall and perhaps someday find unity in our common human bond. Thisis what life has taught me so far, my sum of truths gleaned fromexperiencing many cultures. I don’t know if these truths will hold, but I hope that my college experience will be like my trip to Cuba—challengingsome truths, strengthening others, and helping me experience newones.
